WDO / Termite Inspection in Central Florida
License HI9899 | Coordinated with licensed WDO partner | 321-222-3116
Florida is one of the highest-risk states in the country for subterranean termites, drywood termites, and other wood-destroying organisms (WDO). These pests can cause tens of thousands of dollars in structural damage before they become visible. A WDO inspection is required for VA and FHA loans and is strongly recommended for any residential purchase in Florida.
What Is a WDO Inspection?
A WDO inspection is a visual examination of accessible areas of a property for evidence of live infestation, past infestation, damage, and conditions conducive to wood-destroying organism activity. The inspector looks for termite tubes, frass (droppings), damaged wood, carpenter ant galleries, and wood-to-soil contact that creates pest entry points.
Common Wood-Destroying Organisms in Florida
- Subterranean Termites: Build mud tubes from soil to wood and are responsible for most structural damage. Formosan subterranean termites are especially destructive and present throughout Central Florida.
- Drywood Termites: Live inside the wood itself, leaving piles of pellet-shaped frass as evidence. Common in older Florida homes.
- Carpenter Ants: Excavate galleries in moist or damaged wood. Not as destructive as termites but a significant secondary concern.
- Wood-Boring Beetles: Various species attack hardwoods and structural lumber. Evidence includes small exit holes and powdery frass.
